You can test your current CommServe version's capacity using the cloud
network to view the following:
Available and used License capacity
Available upgrades for the current version
You need to send the CommServe database dump file to the cloud network, after
processing an e-mail is sent out to you with information about the number of
clients, MediaAgents, successful jobs, etc. retrieved from the CommServe
database dump file.
You can test the capacity of your CommServe if you are having version 7.0,
8.0 or 9.0 installed.
Verify and ensure that all components in the CommCell are at version 7.0.0
Create a CommServe database dump
Perform the following to create a dump file for the CommServe database you plan
Log on to the CommServe computer as a local Administrator
or as a member of the local Administrators group on that computer.
Stop all Services on the CommServe computer.
To stop services:
Click the Start button on the Windows task bar and then
click All Programs.
Navigate to commvault | Simpana
and click Service
Select All Services in Services.
Click Stop to stop all services
Perform the following steps to back up the CommServe database and create a dump file:
In the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, navigate to
Server Instance | Database | CommServ.
Right-click the CommServ database, select Tasks and
then click Backup. The Back Up Database dialog box appears.
In the Database, verify the database name.
In the Backup type, select Full.
In the BackupComponent, select Database option.
Accept the default backup set name in the Name, or you can
enter a different name for the backup set.
Specify when the Backup set will expire. By default After
is selected with value 0.
In the Destination area select Disk option. To select
the path, click Add. The selected path will be displayed in the
Backup to list.
