System (General)

Use this dialog box to do the following:

  • Modify the maximum number of events to retain in the database
  • Set how often to check the database size
  • Enable quotas at the client computer group level

Threshold Values

  • Event Retention Criteria

Options to define the number of events retained in the database. The database is checked every time you open the Event Viewer. If the number of events exceeds the maximum, the oldest events are pruned.

    • Keep n Events

The number of events to retain.

    • And all events less than n Days old

The number of events to retain based on the age of the event.

  • Database space check interval

The frequency (in hours and minutes) with which the software checks the size of the CommServe database. When the CommServe database approaches a low percentage of capacity, a warning message appears in the Event Viewer and an alert (if configured) is sent to the user.

  • Allow GUI connections to timeout

Enable the option for the CommCell Console to become disconnected when idle for a certain period of time.

    • GUI Timeout in minutes

Select the number of minutes the CommCell Console can remain idle before it is disconnected by the system.

Database Space Check Thresholds (Percentage Free)

  • Information

Defines the database free-space threshold at which a warning message with an Information severity level is sent to the Event Viewer.

  • Minor

Defines the database free-space threshold at which a warning message with a Minor severity level is sent to the Event Viewer.

  • Major

Defines the database free-space threshold at which a warning message with a Major severity level is sent to the Event Viewer.

  • Critical

Defines the database free-space threshold at which a warning message with a Critical severity level is sent to the Event Viewer. You can configure an alert for low disk space to generate when the threshold level falls below the critical severity level.

This is MSP CommServe

Configures the CommServe computer as a service provider to support and manage users from multiple organizations. This is useful if you want to set up a multi-tenant CommCell environment to provide backup services for multiple organizations. Tenants are users that register with the service provider to protect their client data.

Enable License Limits at Client Group

Enables backup limits at the client computer group level. Backup limits can be used to monitor the amount of data that is backed up for a client computer group. When the limit is exceeded, backup jobs are placed in a waiting state.
