Associated MediaAgents
The name(s) of the MediaAgent(s) that controls the library.
Number of Mount Paths
The total number of mount paths that are defined for the library.
Status
The status of the library.
Disk Space
The amount of space occupied on the disk. By default, the MediaAgent automatically updates the status of the disk space every 30 minutes. This is done based on the Interval (Minutes) between disk space updates parameter set in the Media Management Configuration dialog box.
Disks that require attention are indicated by a yellow icon. If the amount of space exceeds the maximum limit (that is, 95%), then the Space Status icon is highlighted in red. In this case, you must free up some space or add more space to the volume or modify the mount path.
Enable Library
Select this to bring the library online and make it available for use. Clear this option to take the library offline. When a library is offline, all the mount paths are inaccessible to the MediaAgent.
A library's online/offline status reflects its logical availability to the MediaAgent, not its physical availability. For example, a library can be enabled even if it is physically unavailable because of a hardware failure.
Hide Library
Indicates whether the library should be visible in the CommCell Console. When selected, the library will not be visible when the Show hidden libraries option available in Service Configuration tab of Media Management Configuration dialog box is disabled.
Mark Library Offline for Maintenance
Select this option to make the library unavailable for read/write operations such as backup, restore or auxiliary copy operations. However, the library will be available to perform other administrative tasks.
This option is useful when you wish to perform administrative or maintenance tasks on the library.
Mark Archive files as Read-Only
When this option is selected, the system creates archive files in the disk library with read-only permissions.
When this option is cleared, the system creates archive files in the disk library with all permissions.
Use this option to create read-only archive files on NetApp SnapLock volumes with access time set according to the retention days (backup or archiver retention days, whichever is higher) specified in the storage policy copy.
Timeouts (in Minutes)
The timeout parameter determines how long a job waits for a status response after an operation is requested. If the job does not receive a success or failure status within the timeout period, the job is terminated and a failure message is displayed. You can set the following timeout periods:
- Mount
The number of minutes used to mount the library for read/write operations.
- Unmount
The number of minutes used to unmount the library after a read/write operation.
Offline Reason
Indicates the offline reason when the Status of the library is displayed as Offline.
Description
Use this field to enter a description about the disk library. This description can include information about the disk library's content, any cautionary notes, and so on.
Library Properties (Mount Paths)
Use this dialog box to view or modify the mount path properties of a disk library.
Attributes
- Automatically add data paths for new drivepools configured
When enabled, the system automatically adds the alternate data paths for a shared library.
- Disks within this library support Hardware Single Instancing
When this option is selected, the underlying storage is able to do single instancing on files if the same file content is written multiple times. For example, Centera supports hardware based single instancing.
Note: For underlying storage hardware like Data Domain which has parsing logic of Commvault's data format, there is no need to write data in individual small files. The data is written in a container format, where multiple files are combined together into a chunk.
This option is not applicable for Commvault's Deduplication.
- Prevent accidental deletion of data from mountpaths
Select this option to prevent contents of mount paths (on Windows platforms) from being accidentally deleted. Mount paths created when this option is enabled are protected from accidental deletion.
Do not enable this option when:
- The mount path(s) in the library are hosted on WORM hardware that has options to control and prevent accidental deletions, such as SmartLock in Isilon, or
- The Mark Archive files as Read-Only option is selected in the General tab of Library Properties dialog box.
Mount Path Usage
The following parameters are applicable when there are several mount paths in the disk library:
- Fill and spill mount paths (Use new mount paths only as needed)
Specifies that the system should completely consume (fill) the free space in a mount path before using another mount path.
- Spill and fill mount paths (Load balance use of mount paths)
Specifies that the system should round-robin (spill) between the available mount paths for each job.
Prefer mount paths with more free space
Specifies that while using the round-robin method to write the data, the system will use the mount path with the most free space available. The Free space in GB can be defined using the Free space difference in GB to consider preferring mount paths with more free space parameter.
- Select mount path for MediaAgent according to the preferred setting
Specifies the mount path that must be picked for write operations. (By default this option is cleared .)
When selected, the mount path set as the 'preferred' mount path for the MediaAgent (selected in the data path), is picked for write operations.
When cleared, the mount path is picked based either on the 'spill and fill' or the 'fill and spill' option set for the library.
Note: Select this option to prevent write operations from occurring over a network.
Mount Path Allocation Policy
- Maximum Allowed Writers
When selected, maximum concurrent writers on the disk library will be established.
- Allocate number of Writers
By default, maximum concurrent writers are established on the disk library. To limit the number of writers, type the number of writers that you want to allocate.

Library Properties (Space Management)
Use this dialog box to set threshold parameters:
Space Thresholds
Disk free space percentage
- Low Watermark (%)
Specifies the minimum amount of free space at which the low watermark warning should be generated. If the amount of free space, for all the combined mount paths, reaches or falls below the low watermark, the system adds an entry in the Event Viewer and sends an Insufficient Storage alert with status Below Low Media Threshold, if configured.
- Warning Watermark (%)
Specifies the amount of free space on the disk at which a warning must be generated. If the amount of free space falls below the specified amount, then the system generates an event message and generates Insufficient Storage alert with status Below Warning Threshold, if configured.
- Notify when library will run out of space in n days
Specifies the number of days in advance to trigger notification for low disk space in the library. See Modify the Low Watermark for more information.
Thresholds for Managed Disk Space
The following parameters for free disk space is considered for data aging when the Enable Managed Disk Space for disk data option is enabled in the Retention tab of the Copy Properties dialog box.
The following parameters can be established:
- Start aging when data occupied on disk is n %
Specifies the disk capacity in percentage that must be reached before data is aged when the Data Aging operation is run. If necessary, use the space to modify the threshold. Note that any predetermined basic or extended retention rules must be met before the data is aged.
- Stop aging when data occupied on disk is n %
Specifies the disk capacity in percentage, when reached, data is not aged during a Data Aging operation. If necessary, use the space to modify the threshold.

Drive Slot Count
Total number of drive slots.
Drive Count
Total number of drives that were detected or included in the library.
Configured Drive Count
Total number of configured drives in the library.
Door Check (Sec)
This interval, expressed in seconds, determines how frequently the system checks to see whether the library door is open. If the door is open during a check, the system conducts a full inventory of the library after the door is closed. This way, if media were manually inserted or removed from the library while the door was open, the inventory is updated. This value is editable only before the library is configured.
Note: If you open and close the door in the interval between checks, the system does not detect the opening and closing, and does not update the library's inventory.
Barcode Reader Installed
Indicates whether the library is configured as a sighted (library with a bar code reader) or blind (library with no bar code reader) library.
When selected, the library is configured as a sighted library.
When cleared, the library is configured as a blind library.

Indicates whether the system must create new storage policies automatically during subsequent library configuration. Applicable only for shared libraries.
Auto Configure DDS Drive Pool
Indicates whether the system must automatically configure the library with a Dynamic Drive Sharing (DDS) configuration if a new data path is found. Applicable only for shared libraries.
Auto Configure Failover Library Controller
Indicates whether the system must automatically create the failover library controllers for shared libraries. Applicable only for shared libraries.
List ACSLS Clean Media
For ACSLS library, when this option is selected, cleaning cartridges that are available for the library's own cleaning function appear in the Media in Library pool in the CommCell Console. When you select this option, the library must be reset for the cleaning media to appear in the CommCell Console.
In addition, this option should be selected in only one of the configured libraries. For example, you have configured each scratch pool (from one physical library ) as a CommCell library. Select this option in any one of the configured libraries.
Use Drive ID for Drive Replacement
For ACSLS library, when this option is selected, the MediaAgent automatically detects new drives if they were swapped or replaced. Select this option in ACSLS Server / libraries that support a serial number for each drive ID. Type the following command in the ACSLS Console to show the serial number for all drives:
display drive * -f serial_num
The system displays both the drive ID and the serial number if that ability is supported. If it is not supported, only the drive ID is displayed.
Note: If the library is associated with a stand-alone drive, Manufacturer is displayed as StandAln, Model as Drive, Firmware as Library and the SCSI Address is the address of the drive. Base Address is not applicable for stand-alone drives.
