Getting Started with Commvault Remote Office Appliance RO1100

Step 1: Checking What's in the Box

Ensure that you have received all the items in the shipment. For more information on whatis in the box, see What's in the Box.

Step 2: Racking Cabling and Powering-on the Commvault Remote Office Appliance RO1100

Ensure that the appliance is properly racked, cabled and powered on as per the guidelines provided in Racking and Cabling the Commvault Remote Office Appliance RO1100.

Step 3: Verifying the Preinstallation Checklist

Collect the necessary information to plan and prepare for setting up Commvault Remote Office Appliance RO1100. For more information on the preinstallation checklist, see Preinstallation Checklist.

Step 4: Installing the Software

Install the MediaAgent software in the appliance and attach it to an existing CommServe server. For more information on installing only the MediaAgent software, see Installing the MediaAgent Software on Commvault Remote Office Appliance RO1100.

Optionally, both the CommServe server software and the MediaAgent software can be installed in the appliance. For more information on installing the CommServe server and the MediaAgent software, see Installing the CommServe and MediaAgent Software on Commvault Remote Office Appliance RO1100.

Step 5: Changing the Windows Administrator Password

Change the default Windows administrator password for theCommvault Remote Office Appliance RO1100.

Step 6: Verifying the Default Configurations

Verify the components that are configured by default during the installation, such as disk library, deduplication, and storage policies.

Step 7: Configuring the Virtual Server Agent (Optional)

The virtual server agent is installed and available in the Commvault Remote Office Appliance RO1100. If necessary, configure the Virtual Server agent to back up the virtual machines in the VMware vSphere environment.

Step 8: Installing Additional Data Protection Agents (Optional)

Install additional data protection agents to perform data protection and data recovery operations for specific operating systems or applications.
