Disabling the LVM Metadata Cache Deamon

To avoid the lvmetad daemon to interfere with snapshot backup operations and snapshot restore operations, on the Azure Linux VM, turn the lvmetad daemon off.

Procedure

  1. On the command line of the Azure VM, enter the following commands to disable and stop the lvmetad daemon:

    systemctl disable lvm2-lvmetad

    systemctl stop lvm2-lvmetad

    systemctl mask lvm2-lvmetad

  2. On the command line of the Azure VM, enter the following commands to disable and stop the lvmetad socket:

    systemctl disable lvm2-lvmetad.socket

    systemctl stop lvm2-lvmetad.socket

    systemctl mask lvm2-lvmetad.socket

  3. Edit the LVM config file, and then add the following line to disable the lvmetad daemon in the LVM config file:

    use_lvmetad = 0
