  2. Right-click the subclient, and then click Properties.
  3. Select the Retention tab.
  4. Select Older than n days based on received time and enter the number of days that you want to retain the messages on the secondary storage based on their received time and click OK.

Optionally, you can also select Never to retain the messages and the stubs forever on the secondary storage.

Configuring PST Ownership

Based on File Ownership (ACLs)

By default, the PST files are assigned ownership based on their ACLs. However, you can also assign ownership in case the ACLs are not found based on the laptops from which the PSTs were backed up.

  1. From the CommCell Console, expand Client Computers > client > Exchange Mailbox (Classic) > defaultBackupSet.
  2. Right-click the subclient, and then click Properties.
  3. Click the PST Archiving Contents tab, and then click the PST Owner Management subtab.
  4. If necessary, select Based on ACLs.
  5. Select Based on Laptop Owner, if ACLs not found.
  6. Click OK.

Based on Folder Hierarchy

In case the .pst files are accumulated from shared locations, you can assign ownership based on the Active Directory properties.

  1. From the CommCell Console, expand Client Computers > client > Exchange Mailbox (Classic) > defaultBackupSet.
  2. Right-click the subclient, and then click Properties.
  3. Click the PST Archiving Contents tab, and then click the PST Owner Management subtab.
  4. Click Based on Folder Hierarchy.
  5. In the Starting Folder Path box, type the exact path of the share where the .pst files are located.

    Note:

Make sure that the folder path matches the root path of the AD property hierarchy. For example:

    \\SharedLocation\root\<SAMAccountName>\XX.pst

    \\SharedLocation\root\<LegacyDN>\XX.pst

In both cases, the folder path will be \\SharedLocation\root.

The File System subclient content path should be identical to the PST archiving subclient content path. If the file system path is E:\pstcollection\<SAMAccountName> then the Starting Folder Path for the PST archiving subclient content should also be E:\pstcollection\<SAMAccountName>.

  6. From the AD property list, select either the LegacyExchangeDN or sAMAccountName hierarchy, depending on your environment.
  7. Click OK.

Assigning Mailboxes to PSTs with No Owner Information
