Migration from OCUM-Based Snapshot Replication to NetApp Open Replication

If you use OnCommand Unified Manager (OCUM) in your environment and you want to replicate snapshots without OCUM, you need to configure the NetApp Open Replication feature. You also need to reassociate your subclients with the storage policy that you create in the NetApp Open Replication feature, which does not contain the OCUM information.

Process for Migrating from OCUM-Based Snapshot Replication to NetApp Open Replication

  1. Complete the configuration process for the NetApp Open Replication feature.
  2. For each subclient that you want to migrate from the OCUM setup to the NetApp Open Replication setup, reassociate the subclient with the storage policy that you create when you configure the NetApp Open Replication feature. For information about associating a subclient with a storage policy, see the documentation for your IntelliSnap agent.
  3. If you want to reuse the relationships that were created with OCUM, and you configured the physical deletion of secondary NetApp volumes, then, before you delete any secondary snapshot copies on the OCUM storage policy, disable the Media Management configuration parameter Delete NetApp secondary vault/mirror volumes for aged members. Disabling the physical deletion of secondary NetApp volumes ensures that the OCUM relationships remain intact and can be used by the NetApp Open Replication feature.
  4. If you disabled the Media Management configuration parameter to reuse the relationships that were created with OCUM, then after relationships are migrated and the snapshots are replicated, you can re-enable the Media Management configuration parameter Delete NetApp secondary vault/mirror volumes for aged members.
