Creating a Vault/Replica or Mirror Copy for the NetApp Open Replication Feature

Create the secondary snapshot copy for the NetApp Open Replication feature.

Before You Begin

To create the vault/replica or the mirror copy , you must use a storage policy that does not have the OnCommand Unified Manager (OCUM) information.

If you have not yet done so, create a storage policy with a snap primary copy. See Creating a Storage Policy and a Primary Snap Copy.

From Version 11 SP12, there is support for the NetApp fan-out configuration. With the fan-out configuration, you can create multiple vault copies or replica copies and multiple mirror copies, using the same storage policy with a primary snapshot copy as the source copy.

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Policies > Storage Policies.
  2. Right-click the storage policy, point to All Tasks, and then click Create New Snapshot Copy.

The Snap Copy Properties dialog box appears.

  3. In the Copy Name box, type a name.
  4. From the Library list, MediaAgent list, Drive Pool list, and Scratch Pool list, select a library, a MediaAgent, a drive pool, and a scratch pool.

Tip: Drive pool and scratch pool are not applicable for disk libraries.

  5. In the Array Replication area, choose one of the following options:
    • For SnapVault and MirrorVault relationships, select Vault/Replica.

If you click the Vault/Replica option, then the Selective Copy option is selected by default.

    • For SnapMirror and Version Flexible Mirror relationships, select Mirror.

If you click the Mirror option, then the Retention tab is grayed out because the retention rules of the mirror copy must be the same of the primary snapshot copy.

  6. On the Configuration tab, do the following:
    1. From the Snap Vendor list, select NetApp.

The Create SVM Mapping area appears.

    2. From the Source SVM list, and from the Target SVM list, select the source computer and target computer, and then click Add.
    3. Optional: If you want to see the SVM names instead of SVM IP addresses, see Displaying SVM Names.
  7. On the Copy Policy tab, in the Source Copy area, select the Specify Source for Array Vault/Replica or Mirror check box, and then select the primary snapshot copy from the list.
  8. Click OK.
