Managing Logs on Master and Standby Server Instances

You can delete logs or retain logs on master servers and on standby servers.

Procedure

  1. To access the Archive Delete check box, see Enabling Archive Log Deletion after Backup.
  2. Choose whether to delete or retain logs:
    • To delete logs, in the Properties of PostgreSQL Instance dialog box, select the Archive Delete check box.

      Standby server: After a log backup operation runs on the standby server, logs are deleted on the standby server.

      Master server: After a log backup operation runs on the master server, logs are deleted from the master archive log directory after confirming that they were applied on the standby server.

    • To retain logs, in the Properties of PostgreSQL Instance dialog box, clear the Archive Delete check box.

      Standby server: After a log backup operation runs on the standby server, logs are not deleted on the standby server.

      Master server: After a log backup operation runs on the master server, logs are not deleted on the master server or the standby server.
