Controlling the Number of Streams for an Oracle RAC Client
Use this procedure to control the throttling for an Oracle RAC client that contains multiple instances and you want to start jobs from multiple subclients.
You can assign the number of streams that the software allocates for backup operations to the client. This option optimizes the configuration because you do not have to set the limit on each host.
When you set the Maximum number of parallel data transfer operations for the client and the number of streams that you specify is less than the number of streams across all the subclients in all the client backup sets, then the number of streams that the software uses for backup jobs is less than or equal to the value you set for the client.
Note: The number of streams the software allocates is based on the number of available streams when the job starts. If streams are not available, then the job must wait for the streams to become available.
- From the CommCell Browser, right-click Client Computers > RAC Client.
- Right-click the client, and then click Properties.
The Oracle RAC Client Properties dialog box appears.
- Click Advanced.
The Oracle RAC Advanced Client Properties dialog box appears.
- On the Job Configuration tab, in the Maximum number of parallel data transfer operations, type the number of streams that the software uses for backup operations.
- Click OK.
