Configuring the Client Computers that were Behind a Firewall in the Source CommCell Environment

To register the client computers that were behind a firewall on the source CommCell environment, you must configure a proxy network topology. In this configuration, a proxy server exists between a client group that contains the MediaAgent and CommServe computer and a client group that contains the client computers that are migrated.

Procedure

  1. Install a client computer on the destination CommCell environment to act as the proxy server.

    For instructions, see Client Installations.

  2. Create the following client computer groups:
    • A client group that contains the CommServe computer and the MediaAgent.
    • A client group that contains all the clients that were behind a firewall on the source CommCell environment.
    • A client group that should contain the proxy server.

For instructions, see Creating a Client Computer Group.

  3. Associate the newly created proxy server to the client group that should contain the proxy server in the network topology.

For instructions, see Associating or Disassociating Clients.

  4. Create a network gateway topology for the clients groups with the following parameters:
    • Topology Type: Via Proxy
    • Trusted Client Group 1 (Clients): The client group that contains the CommServe computer and the MediaAgent.
    • Trusted Client Group 2 (Infrastructure): The client group that contains all the clients that contain the applications that you want to migrate.
    • Proxy/DMZ Group: The client group that contains the network gateway server.

For more information, see Setting Up Network Gateway Connections Using a Predefined Network Topology.

Note: The only package that you need to install on the network gateway server is the File System core package.

  5. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the network topology that you configured, click Push Network Configuration, and then click OK.
  6. Perform CommCell migration of the proxy server to the source CommCell environment.

For instructions, see Exporting the Metadata.

  7. Log on to the source CommCell environment.
  8. Associate the proxy server that is imported to the proxy server client group in the network topology on the source CommCell environment.
  9. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the network topology that you configured, click Push Network Configurations, and then click OK.
