Amazon RDS for Oracle Restore Operations

When you perform a restore operation on a logical subclient, the Commvault software invokes the Oracle data pump import utility to stage the dump file on the specified path, and then import the dump file to the specified database on the destination client.

Your objective for restoring data determines the process that you must follow and the restore destination.

  1. Determine the time range.

This data would be restored to an in-place destination.

Restore data from a specified range of time

The data was accidentally deleted.

  1. Determine the time range.
  2. Browse and restore data based on a time range that you specify.

Typically, this data would be restored to an out-of-place destination.

Restore to a point in time

The database is corrupted or otherwise invalid.

Determine the date and time.

Typically, this data would be restored to an in-place destination.

Restore Destinations

You can restore the data to any of the following destinations:

  • The same Amazon RDS instance
  • An Amazon RDS instance that is different from the source instance
