Content Index Fallen Behind Alert

You can use the Content Index Fallen Behind Alert to send an alert when certain conditions are met for content indexing jobs on a storage policy. The alert can be configured to trigger when either of the following conditions are met for storage policy:

  • The size of data to be content indexed exceeds a defined amount.
  • Backup jobs that are older than a defined number of days have not finished content indexing.

The Content Index Fallen Behind Alert is sent on a regular basis, according to the alert settings.

Enabling and Configuring the Content Index Fallen Behind Alert on a Storage Policy

The Content Index Fallen Behind Alert can be enabled and configured in the Content Indexing settings on a storage policy.

  1. In the CommCell Browser, expand Policies > Storage Policies.
  2. Right-click a storage policy and then click Properties.
  3. Click Content Indexing and then click Content Index Fallen Behind Alert.
  4. Select Enable Content Index Fallen Behind Alert and configure the conditions to trigger the alert as follows:

    You can select one or both of the following conditions.

    • To alert when the data to be content indexed in the storage policy is above a defined amount, select and configure To be content indexed data is over <n> GB.
    • To alert when backup jobs that are older than a defined number of days have not completed finished being content indexed, select and configure Jobs that are over <n> days old and have not yet been fully indexed.
  5. Click OK.
  6.  Repeat the above procedure on each storage policy on which you want to enable the Content Index Fallen Behind Alert.

Changing the Frequency of the Content Index Fallen Behind Alert

By default, conditions for the Content Index Fallen Behind Alert are checked every 24 hours. You can change how often storage policies are checked for the Content Index Fallen Behind Alert conditions as follows:

  1. In the CommCell Console ribbon, click Storage > Media Management.
  2. Click Auxiliary Copy.
  3. Click Interval (Hours) between Content Index Fallen Behind alerts and select a new interval under the Value column.
  4. Click OK.

Adding and Configuring the Content Index Fallen Behind Alert Settings

After you enable and configure the conditions for the Content Index Fallen Behind Alert on your storage policies, you can add the alert and configure the alert settings.

  1. In the CommCell Console ribbon, click Home > Alert.
  2. In the Alerts dialog box, click Add.
  3. In the General Information step, proceed as follows:
    • In the Display Name box, type a name for the alert.
    • In the Category list click Job Management, and in the Type list click Offline Content Indexing.
  4. Click Next.
  5. In the Entities Selection step, select the storage policies with Content Index Fallen Behind Alert enabled and then click Next.
  6. In the Alert Criteria step, select Content Indexing fallen behind alert and any additional options that you want to include in the alert.
  7. In the remaining steps, select the notification type and users to notify. See Alerts and Notifications - Advanced for more information.
  8. When finished, click Finish to add the alert.
