File Options for Advanced Search

You can perform advanced file searches by setting the following criteria:

Option

Description

Folder

Search by the path of the folder.

To search for multiple folder names or paths, separate the values with a comma (,), and then assign a logical operator: AND, OR, or NOT.

To search for files in a specific drive of a computer, search using the keyword <drive>:\* in the Folder field.

Modified Date

Search by the modification date of a file. Type a date in the box or select a date from the calendar. Logical operator do not apply because only one modification date is entered.

File name part

Search by the file name or a wildcard pattern (for example: *.doc, *.pdf, etc.). 

To search for multiple file names or patterns, separate the values with a comma (,), and then assign a logical operator: AND, OR and NOT.

Size (in KB)

Search by the approximate size of the file. Logical operator do not apply because you provide the range of the size.

Procedure

  1. From the Search page or the search results page, click Advanced Search.
  2. On the File tab, set the advanced search options.
  3. To change the logical operator for the search fields, from the Inter Field Operator list, click AND or OR.

    The default logical operator for the fields is AND.

  4. To add a group, click Add Group, and then from the Group Operator list, click AND or OR.

    The default logical operator for the groups is AND. You can add a maximum of three groups.

  5. Click Submit.
