Can I convert a client computer into a virtual machine?
Yes. When a CommServe is connected to an ESX server, you can convert a physical machine (computer) into a virtual machine using the 1-Touch backup data. You can also modify the hardware and network configuration of the client while converting it into a virtual machine. For more information, refer to Virtualize Me - Getting Started.
Can I convert a Virtual machine into a physical machine?
Yes. Follow the steps given below to convert a virtual machine into a physical machine:
- Ensure that you have enabled 1-Touch backup on the virtual machine and you have performed atleast one full backup.
- Create a response file for the virtual machine and perform the Non-Interactive Restore using the response file.

During Non interactive restore, copy the response file on a USB drive and connect the USB drive to a physical machine.
How to add 1-Touch ISO image to a PXE server?
- Download the ISO file from the Cloud Services Web site.
- Configure the PXE Server and add the 1-Touch ISO image to it.
- Use a remote monitoring console to start the client and select a PXE boot.
- Change the CMOS boot sequence to boot from the hard disk.
- Perform the Interactive Restore.
- Once the restore completes, set the CMOS back to PXE or the preferred boot method.
Can I perform 1-Touch Recovery of a client computer with UEFI?
Yes. You can perform 1-Touch Recovery of a client computer that is configured with UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) or EFI. Note that you require a minimum of 1 disk with a GUID Partition Table (GPT) partition to perform the 1-Touch Recovery.
However, you cannot perform cross-firmware restore operations from a BIOS to an EFI or from an EFI to a BIOS.
I have migrated a client computer to a new CommCell. Can I perform the 1-Touch restore of the client?
Yes. After migrating the client into a new CommCell, you can perform the 1-Touch restore (Non-Interactive or Interactive). The backup performed in the old CommCell can be used for the restore the client.
Can I restore dynamic disks on the client computer by 1-Touch restore?
Yes. You can restore dynamic disks by 1-Touch restore.
Can I perform 1-Touch recovery of the data which is encrypted using the McAfee Endpoint encryption?
No. If the data on a client computer is encrypted using the McAfee Endpoint Encryption, 1-Touch recovery is not supported.
Can I restore a MediaAgent from a secondary copy that is available on a different MediaAgent?
Yes. You can restore a MediaAgent using a secondary copy that is available on a different MediaAgent. For instructions, see

Is multipath I/O supported for 1-Touch recovery?
No. Multipath I/O is not supported for 1-Touch recovery as WinPE is unaware of multipath I/O. For this reason, when performing a restore you will see multiple LUNs. In such cases, perform a recovery with only one path if you are restoring the operating system to a LUN or remove the Host Bus Adaptor (HBA) card if restoring the operating system to a local disk.
What are the considerations for performing 1-Touch recovery from block-level backups?
The following considerations apply when performing a 1-Touch recovery from block-level backup for Windows:
- 1-Touch is not supported with block-level backups using IntelliSnap.
- To perform 1-Touch recovery from block-level backups, you must run block-level backup operations in a different MediaAgent (unlike the source computer).
Can I restore a Windows 7 client computer to a Windows 10 client computer for operating system hardware refresh?
No. You cannot restore a version of client computer to a different version of another client computer for operating system hardware refresh operation.
