Exporting the Metadata from a PodCell to the Cloud
In the PodCell, you can configure a cloud library, select the clients, and specify a schedule to export the client metadata to the cloud library.
Before You Begin
- Enable the Global Repository Cell (GRC) feature in the PodCell. For instructions, see Enabling CommCell Migration and Global Repository Cell (GRC) on a CommServe Computer.
- Enable the Cloud Global Repository Cell feature in the PodCell. For instructions, see Enabling the Cloud Global Repository Cell Feature in a PodCell.
- Register the Global Repository Cell in the PodCell. For instructions, see Registering the Global Repository Cell in a PodCell.
Procedure
- Log on to the CommCell Console of the PodCell.
- From the CommCell Browser, right-click the CommServe node, point to All Tasks, and then click CommCell Registration.
The CommCell Registration dialog box appears.
- Right-click the Global Repository Cell, and then click Export To Cloud.
The Export to Cloud Wizard appears.
- You can do one of the following:
- To use an existing cloud library, select Use existing cloud library, and then select the cloud library from the list.
- To configure new cloud storage, select Create new cloud storage, and then enter the credentials to access the cloud storage.
Notes:
- You can acquire the access credentials from your cloud storage vendor.
- The access information for cloud storage devices varies for each server type. For a list of server types and their access information, see Add / Edit Cloud Storage (General).
- The credentials must not contain blank spaces or other special characters.
- For another vendor that supports Amazon S3 such as Scality, you must select Amazon S3 from Type, and then, under Access Information, enter the credentials of that vendor.
- If the MediaAgent accesses the cloud storage through a proxy server, click the Advanced tab, select the Proxy Server check box, and then enter the access information of the proxy server.
- Click Next.
- On the Monitor Entities page, select the clients that you want to monitor.
- Click Next.
- On the Export Options page, you can select one of the following options:
- Perform Complete Export: Select this option to export all the metadata of the selected clients.
- Perform Export From: Select this option to export the metadata of the selected clients for a specific period, and then specify the period.
- Click Next.
- On the Configure Schedule Pattern page, specify the schedule to perform the metadata export. For more information, see Scheduling - Online Help.
- Click Finish.
