Configuring Active Directory Groups and Users as Client Owners for Windows File Servers

You can add active directory users or groups as client owners for servers or laptops using the following procedure. All active directory groups that are part of the Administrators group are set as client owners. All domain user profiles that are created on the laptop or server are added as client owners.

Note: Restricted client owners are not created during the client owner discovery operation. Restricted client owners are users who are part of a restricted group such as -[admin,administrator,administrador,root].

Before You Begin

We recommend that you configure AD users or groups from the Name Servers page. If you have not configured the AD users or groups, then the domain that is discovered is added to the CommCell Console.

Procedure

1. To the CommServe computer, add the ClientGroupForLaptop additional setting with the value EnumUserProfiles.

   Skip this step if you want to include Active Directory and CommCell user groups as client owners.

   For instructions on adding the additional setting from the CommCell Console, see Adding or Modifying Additional Settings from the CommCell Console.

   Refer to the following table for applicable values:

2. To the client group level, add the enumuserprofiles additional setting as shown in the following table:

   Property	Value
   Name	enumuserprofiles

   Type	Integer
   Value	1 Type 0 to disable the feature.

   To disable the feature, set the additional setting to 0 at the client or client group level. For instructions on adding the additional setting from the CommCell Console, see Adding or Modifying Additional Settings from the CommCell Console.

3. To the client computer, add the nAllowSettingOwners additional setting as shown in the following table:

   Value	1 Type 0 to disable the feature.

4. To the client computer, add the nAllowClientOwnerGroupAssignment additional setting as shown in the following table:

   Value	1 to enable the feature Type 0 to disable the feature.

5. To the CommServe computer, add the EnableClientOwnerDeletion additional setting as shown in the following table:

   Value	1

6. Restart services on the client computer.
