Advanced Indexing Pack: System Requirements

The following requirements are for the Advanced Indexing Pack.

Operating System

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Editions

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Editions

Processor

All Windows-compatible processors are supported

Hardware Specifications

The software installation requires 20 GB of temp space on the drive where the temp directory resides.

Hard Drive

1 GB minimum of hard disk space for installing the software.

To calculate the disk space requirements for the job results directory, see Job Results Directory Disk Space Calculation.

500 MB of free disk space is required for log directory.

Note

To get higher scalability for content indexing files from backups, you can turn off the generate previews option on the Search Engine node. When generate previews is off, each search node can accommodate approximately twice the number of objects per node. For example, in a large enterprise, this would be approximately 40 TB of source data (about 60 million objects), and the required disk space is 15% of source data (up to 6 TB).

Miscellaneous

Internet Information Services IIS

To install this software, IIS must be enabled on the computer and meet the following requirements:

  • Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager version 10.0 (on Windows 2016 only)

  • Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager version 8.0 or 8.5 (on Windows 2012 only)

  • Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager version 7.5

.NET Core

.NET Core 1.0.7 is required and is automatically installed.

If you cannot start indexing services after deployment, install .NET 2.0.6.

Microsoft Visual C++

The following Redistributable Packages are installed automatically. Multiple versions of the package can be installed on the same computer.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package

Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package
