Auto-detection is the recommended method of configuring library and drives attached to a file server. The auto-detection method is explained in Configure Libraries and Drives Attached to a NAS Storage Server Using Automatic Detection.

The settings of the file server determine how the file server connects to the MediaAgent. If you want to define the interface used to connect the MediaAgent to the file server, you can use the Data-Interface-Pairs (DIP) feature from the CommCell console. To define a connection between the MediaAgent and the file server from the CommCell console, refer to the Data-Interface-Pairs documentation for instructions.
