Configuring Load Balancing for NDMP Agent Backups

If resources are limited on a single data path, you can configure load balancing for backups of NDMP agent data. For NDMP agent backup load balancing scenarios, multiple streams of a backup job can use multiple data paths to balance data operations.

Before You Begin

You can only configure load balancing for MediaAgent attached libraries. Load balancing is not supported for NAS attached libraries.

Procedure

1. Configure the NDMP agent subclient for multiple data readers.

2. Add multiple backup paths to the subclient content.

3. On the storage policy primary copy for the NDMP subclient, do the following steps:

   • Configure multiple data paths on the storage policy primary copy.

   • Select the Round-Robin between Data Paths option.

4. In Media Management Configuration under Resource Manager, do the following steps:

   • Enable the Allow load-balance on multiple data paths within one backup job parameter.

     Note

     Enabling Allow load-balance on multiple data paths within one backup job can enable load balancing for other supported agents.

   • Disable the Force to use same MediaAgent for create index and backup phases during NAS backup reservation parameter.

5. Run a backup.
