Configuring the Number of Folders for Simultaneous Multi-thread Scan

Applies to: UNIX clients using Indexing V2

By default, multi-thread scan at the folder level is disabled. You can enable multi-thread scan at the folder level, and configure the number of folders to scan simultaneously regardless of the number of mount points on which the folders reside. The default value is 15; however, you can change that value.

For example, if you have four mount points and if you set the number of threads to 20, then each of the mount points is scanned with 5 threads simultaneously.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > File System > backup_set.

  2. Right-click the appropriate subclient and click Properties.

The Subclient Properties dialog box appears.

  3. Click Advanced.

The Advanced Subclient Properties dialog box appears.

  4. On the Performance tab, verify if the Enable Folder Level Multi-Threading check box is selected.

Multi-thread scan at the folder level is enabled by default if the subclient content contains NFS shares.

  5. In the Number of Threads box, enter the number of folders to scan simultaneously.

Caution: Increasing the number of threads value to higher than 15 might affect system resources. Increase the value by small increments and fine-tune to your environment.

  6. Click OK.
