Creating and Configuring the Outlook Add-In ObjectStore Client

To use the ObjectStore outlook add-in, create and configure an ObjectStore outlook add-in client in the CommCell Console. An ObjectStore outlook add-in client is the CommCell entity used to manage the email attachments in the ObjectStore for a set of Exchange users.

About This Task

Each outlook add-in ObjectStore client must be associated to one or more external user groups, as well as a storage policy. The settings of the storage policy that you associate to an outlook add-in ObjectStore client will determine the storage library used for ObjectStore data and the retention settings of the ObjectStore data.

If required, you can create and configure additional clients with different retention settings for different user groups.

Before You Begin

  • If you have not yet done so, review the instructions in Configuring the Edge Attachment Store.

  • Use a new or existing storage policy that meets the following conditions:

    • The storage policy library must be a disk library.

    • The storage policy must use the MediaAgent associated with the Index Server that you plan to assign to the ObjectStore client.

  • Exchange users must be assigned to an external user group. See User Administration and Security.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click Client Computers, point to New Client > File System, and then click ObjectStore .

The New ObjectStore Client dialog box appears.

  2. On the General tab, in the Client Name box, type the ObjectStore client name.

  3. In the Object Store Type list, click Outlook Addin.

  4. On the Associate User Groups tab, select the external user groups that you want to associate to the outlook add-in ObjectStore client.

    1. Click External Groups.

The Add New User Groups dialog box appears.

    2. From the Select a Domain list, select the external domain name.

    3. In the box, select one or more external user groups and then click Add.

The CommCell user groups appear in the Selected User Groups list.

    4. Click OK.

The New ObjectStore Client dialog box appears.

  5. On the Storage Device tab from the Storage Policy list, select a storage policy.

To maximize storage efficiency, use an existing storage policy configured with client-side deduplication and two disk copies.

For example, if you already have a storage policy defined for your laptop clients, use the same laptop client storage policy for your ObjectStore clients. See Storage Policy - Getting Started.

  6. From the Index Server list, select the Index Server configured for ObjectStore.

  7. Click OK.
