Creating Cassandra Subclients for Data Centers or Simple Strategy Keyspaces

Configure a Cassandra subclient so that you can perform granular backups for Cassandra data centers or keyspaces that have the Simple Strategy replication factor.

Use this procedure when you want to take advantage of the storage targets (MediaAgents) that are close to the data center so that you can have better network performance.

Before You Begin

Review the Commvault best practices for subclient management. For more information, see Cassandra Subclient Best Practices.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Console, expand Client Computers > client > Big Data Apps.

  2. Right-click the instance, and then click All Tasks > New Subclient.

The Subclient Properties dialog box appears.

  3. On the General tab, in the Subclient Name box, type a unique name.

  4. On the Cassandra Contents tab, click Browse.

The Cassandra Browse dialog box appears.

  5. Optional: Add data to the subclient:

    • To add a data center, select the check box for the data center.

When you add a data center, the backup includes the data center network topology replication factor keyspaces.

    • To add Simple Strategy keyspaces, expand the SimpleStrategy check box, and then select the check boxes for the keyspaces that you want to add to the subclient.

  6. Optional: delete data from the subclient. In the Contents of subclient box, select the entries for the data that you want to delete, and then click Delete.

  7. On the Data Storage Policy sub-tab of the Storage Device tab, from the Storage Policy list, select the appropriate storage policy.

  8. Click OK.

What to Do Next

Create subclients for the other data centers and Simple Strategy keyspaces.

Perform backups on the subclient. For more information, see Cassandra Backups.
