Filter Data from All Backups

Global filters are exclusions that you can set to filter out data from backup operations for the content that you specify, such as particular files, folders, or mailboxes. You can use regular expressions (or wildcards) to configure global filters.

Global filters work at the CommCell level to exclude data on all clients residing within the CommCell environment. Together with the filter settings for each subclient, global filters settings determine what data is excluded from backups for all subclients within the CommCell environment.

Considerations

  • Do not change any filters during a backup operation.

  • Changes to global filters are effective the next time a backup operation runs on the subclients for the CommCell. Perform a full backup after changing global filters.
