Getting Started with the MongoDB Agent

Step 1: Review the System Requirements

Review the requirements for the MongoDB Agent. For more information, see System Requirements.

Step 2: Install the MongoDB Agent

You must install the MongoDB agent on all the MongoDB servers.

• To prepare for the installation, review general guidelines, which include configurations that your computer might need before the installation. For more information, see Plan the Installation on UNIX.

  For Windows installations, see Plan the Installation on Windows Computers.

• Select the installation method that is most appropriate for your environment. For more information see, Installation Methods.

Step 3: Install the MediaAgent on all MongoDB servers that host databases

• To prepare for the installation, review general guidelines, which include configurations that your computer might need before the installation. For more information see, Preinstallation Checklist for the MediaAgent on UNIX.

• Select the installation method that is most appropriate for your environment. For more information see, Installation Methods.

Step 4: Prepare the CommCell Environment

1. Open the CommCell Console.

2. Configure a storage device.

3. Add a MongoDB client. For information, see Creating a MongoDB Client.

4. Add a subclient. For more information, see Creating a MongoDB Subclient.

5. Configure a snapshot backup copy.

Step 5: Run the First Backup Operation and Restore Operation

• Back up data.

• Restore data.
