Information You Need to Create an Exchange Mailbox Client for a User Mailbox in an Office 365 with Exchange Using an On-Premises Active Directory Environment

When you create an Exchange Mailbox client for a User Mailbox in an Office 365 with Exchange using an on-premises Active Directory environment, you need the following information.

General Information

Client Name

A name for the Exchange Mailbox client.

Storage Policy

The name of storage policy that you want to associate with the Exchange Mailbox client.

The Exchange Mailbox Agent uses the retention rules that are defined in the Exchange retention policy. The agent does not use the retention rules that are defined in the storage policy. Therefore, if you have multiple agents in your environment, use a different storage policy for the Exchange Mailbox Agent than the storage policy that you used for the other agents.

Index Server

The index server that you created for the agent.

Job Results Directory

The directory where the job results of client computer archive and restore operations are written. Enter the UNC path to a network location where the job metadata information will be stored.

The job results directory should be a location that is always accessible to the access nodes.

Make sure that the service account user has write permissions to the job results directory.

If you move a shared job results directory, you must manually copy the entire folder structure into the new directory.

Access Node Information

Clients

The list of access nodes that you want to associate with the Exchange Mailbox client.

You must associate at least one access node with the Exchange Mailbox client.

Service Account Information

You need the service account (that is, the Exchange Service Account) user name and password. This is the account that has Exchange administrative permissions.

You need the information for both the local system account accounts and the Office 365 with Exchange (Exchange Online) account.

Local System Account Information

Service type

Select Local System Account.

User name

The user name of the service account.

Password

The password of the service account.

Profile name

If you use a static profile, you need the name of the service account profile in Microsoft Outlook on the access node.

Office 365 with Exchange Information

Email address

When the service type is Exchange Online, this is the SMTP email address of the Exchange (Exchange Online) Administrator Account.

User name

The user name of the service account.

Password

The password of the service account.

Profile name

If you use a static profile, you need the name of the service account profile in Microsoft Outlook on the access node.

Recall Service Information

The recall service points to the client where the Web Console is installed and that is used to retrieve stubbed messages for features like Outlook Add-In and ContentStore Email Viewer. Enter the complete address of the proxy service that was installed with the Web Console.

Consider the following when you configure recall services:

  • Specify a domain namespace.

  • The recall service URL, which is the URL to the client where the Web Console is installed, should be in either of the following formats: http://server.domain.com or https://server.domain.com.

  • The recall server can be a load-balancing server.

  • The recall services should be accessible from outside the firewall.
