Installer: Enter Account Information

Use this page in the wizard to specify a user account with sufficient privileges to install the software on the computers you specified.

Note

  • You can skip this page if you are installing additional Commvault packages on existing client computers. The clients must be selected from the Select from existing clients option located on the Enter the host names of the computers page.

  • If you are installing on a cluster environment, specify the Domain Administrator account that has administrative rights on all the cluster nodes that you selected for installation.

Reuse Active Directory credentials

Select this check box to reuse the account information specified during the Active Directory server configuration. This option is available only if you selected to Automatically discover computers on the Select how to discover the computers for installing the software page of the wizard.

  • User Name

Specify the user name of an account with sufficient privileges to install the software on the computers.

    Review the following considerations:

    • The user must be an Administrator or a member of the Administrator group on that computer.

    • The name of the domain where the computer resides must be specified along with the user name (for example, domain\username).

    • If the client is part of a workgroup, then the user name must be prefixed with .\ (for example, .\username).

    • For UNIX computers, if the user is a root user or a member of group with root privileges, you can specify the credentials of a SUDO user. To add SUDO users to the /etc/sudoers file, see Adding SUDO Users with Root Privileges on a UNIX Client.

      Note

      • Installations using the CommCell Console are not supported for non-root users.

      • The installer will determine if a user is a SUDO user. Therefor, you do not have to specify sudo before a username.

  • Password

Specify the password of the specified user account.

  • Confirm Password

    Retype the password for confirmation.

Use SSH Key

If you use an SSH key to log on to your UNIX computer, select this check box and then specify the location of the private key (for example, C:\ssh\private_key.ppk).

Note

When the remote cache is used as a source for the installation, specify the location of the private key on the remote cache.

Before you select this check box, make sure that your SSH key meets the following conditions:

  • An SSH key pair (private and public keys) must be created.

    Important

    • SSH keys are only supported in PuTTY format. If you have OpenSSH keys, you can use PuTTYgen to convert the keys to PuTTY format.

    • The key file names must not have any spaces in them.

  • If using PUTTY version 0.75 or later, make sure that the key is created using PPK Version 2 (not 3).

  • The key type must be RSA, RSA1, DSA, ECDSA, or ED25519.

  • The private key file must be stored on the CommServe computer or on a location that is accessible by the CommServe computer. If you are running the CommCell Console on a workstation other than the CommServe computer, you must map the full path of where the key is available on the CommServe computer as browsing will allow searching the files only on the local system.

  • The public key file must be stored on each of the UNIX computers where you plan to install the Commvault software.

Use SSH Key File Passphrase

Select this check box if the SSH key requires a passphrase.

  • Passphrase

Specify the passphrase for the SSH key.

  • Confirm Passphrase

    Retype the passphrase for confirmation.

Use Non-standard SSH Port Number

By default, the SSH protocol uses port number 22. Select this check box to specify a different port number.
