Installing Hotfix Packs on UNIX, Linux, or Macintosh Computers Using the Installation Package

You can install hotfix packs on UNIX, Linux, or Macintosh computers using the installation package. A hotfix is an update that is targeted at resolving a specific critical issue that might cause major disruptions to operations or potential loss of data.

Before You Begin

Download the hotfix pack from the Cloud Services website and then copy the package to the client machine as follows:

  • Go to the Commvault Store on the Cloud Services website.

  • From the navigation pane on the left, click Media Kits and then download the hotfix pack that you need. To locate all the available hotfixes, type hotfix in the search bar. For more information about downloading software from the cloud, see Downloading Installation Media.

  • After the download, copy the .tar file to a dedicated folder and then extract the .tar file contents.

Procedure

  1. Login as root user.

  2. Change the permission of the InstallUpdate file to provide execute permissions to the root user.

  3. Run the following command from the installation package:

    ./InstallUpdates

    Or, to run the installation as a SUDO user with root privileges, use the following command:

    sudo ./InstallUpdates

    The Summary dialog box appears.

  4. Click Next.

    After the hotfix installation completes, the Installation Status dialog box appears.

  5. Click Finish.
