Media Management Configuration: Snap Manager

Use this dialog box to configure IntelliSnap parameters.

Delete NetApp secondary vault/mirror volumes for aged members

Definition: You can use this configuration parameter to enable the deletion of secondary volumes corresponding to aged or deleted dataset members or subscription context members on OnCommand Unified Manager (OCUM).

Default Value: 0

Range: 0 or 1

Usage: Set this parameter to 1 to enable physical deletion of secondary volumes on the NetApp filer for the corresponding deleted dataset and dataset members.

For this parameter to take effect when there is subclient deletion or reassociation, or subclient member deletion or reassociation, set the Enable Dataset and Dataset Pruning parameter to 1.

If the Enable Dataset and Dataset Pruning value is 0 and Delete this secondary volumes for aged dataset members is 1, then the secondary volumes are deleted only when there is storage policy deletion or storage policy copy deletion.

Note

For 7-Mode, the storage policy or storage policy copy deletion does not trigger the volume deletion for the third node, even when this parameter value is set to 1.

Disable the creation of VSS Protection snap for mount operations coming from a snap job

Definition: Use this configuration parameter to disable the creation of VSS Protection snap when mount operations of a snap job.

Default Value: 0

Range: 0 (disabled) or 1 (enabled)

Usage: If the value is set to 1, the creation of VSS Protection snap for mount operations of a snap job is disabled.

Interval (Hours) between Backup Copy Fallen behind alert

Definition: Use this configuration parameter to configure the time frequency for generating the Backup Copy fallen Behind alert.

Default Value: 24 Hours

Range: 1 to 168 Hours

Usage: By default the alert is generated every 24 hours. However, you can configure this parameter to generate the alert at a time frequency compliant with the number of hours that are configured to trigger the alert in the Storage Policy Properties dialog box on the Backup Copy Fallen Behind tab.

Interval for instant clone cleanup in minutes

Definition: The interval to clean up mount failures, if the snapshot backup job fails or gets killed.

Default Value: 1

Range: 1 - 43800

Usage: Use this parameter to set the interval for clone cleanups.

Interval for multinode mount cleanup in minutes

Definition: The interval to clean up mount failures, if the snapshot backup job fails or gets killed.

Default Value: 1

Range: 1 - 43800

Usage: Use this parameter to set the interval for multinode mount cleanups.

Interval for SCSI sever mount cleanup in minutes

Definition: The interval to clean up mount failures, if the snapshot backup job fails or gets killed.

Default Value: 1

Range: 1 - 43800

Usage: Use this parameter to set the interval for SCSI sever mount cleanups.

Maximum number to retry on snap operation

Definition: Specifies the number of retries for mount, unmount, or other operations after which the operation is not attempted anymore automatically. If the maximum number of retries is reached, then there is a cool-off period of 24 hours. After the cool-off period, the counter is reset and snapshot operations are once again attempted.

Default Value: 50

Range: 5 to 100

Usage: Prevents excessive retries.

Perform Smart Clone operation by snap engines (for V9 and V10 Clients only)

Definition: Specifies to enable the Smart Clone for IBM SVC FlashCopy operation.

Applicable for v9 and v10 clients only.

Default Value: 0

Range: 0 (disabled) or 1 (enabled)
