Performing a DB2 MultiNode IntelliSnap Full Backup

IntelliSnap backups for any client are always full backups.

Note

If a subclient for DB2 MultiNode IntelliSnap backup contains both the data and logs, the log backup is initiated with a separate job ID.

During the data aging process, this may lead to pruning the data backup before a log backup if both the jobs are marked as FULL, so the log backup would be marked as incremental even though the entire set of logs available in the Commvault log archive directory are backed up. The log backups are marked as incremental only to make the data and log backups part of the same cycle.

By default, you can perform an online backup. You can also perform a full backup of an offline database.

The job history for a DB2 IntelliSnap job displays the size of the involved LUNs as the application size. After a backup copy job of the IntelliSnap data, the snap backup job changes the application size that is displayed to be the size of the actual database. Consequently, the license report and the job details in the job history display different sizes before and after the backup copy job.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > DB2 MultiNode > instance > backup_set.

  2. Right-click the subclient, and then click Backup.

  3. On the Backup Options for Subclient dialog box, select the backup type and job initiation:

    1. In the Backup Type section, select Full.

    2. In the Job Initiation section, specify whether to run the backup now or if it will be scheduled.

If you selected Schedule, set up the schedule. For information on configuring a backup schedule, see Schedule Backups.

  4. Click OK.
