Sharing a Mount Path

You can share an existing mount path with another MediaAgent.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand to Storage Resources | Libraries | <Library>.

  2. Right-click the mount path that you want to share with another MediaAgent, and click then Properties.

  3. Click the Sharing tab.

  4. Select the mount path and click Share.

  5. From the Share Mount Path dialog box, perform the following:

    1. Select the MediaAgent you want to share.

    2. In the Access column, select the access type.

If access type is selected as Read, then that mount path will be used only for read operations.

If access type is selected as Read/Write, then that mount path is used for both read and write operations.

    3. Select Network Path.

    4. From the Credential list, select an appropriate credential to access the mount path. To create a new credential, click the Create New button.

For instructions about creating a credential, see Adding a Credential to Credential Manager.

    5. In the Folder box, enter the file path to the mount path.

      Note

To ensure that the MediaAgent is able to access the mount path, the file path should be same as the one that is being shared.

For example: MediaAgent MA01 is accessing disk library, which is configured on MA01 with mount path D:\disk_library.

To configure another MediaAgent MA02 to access the same folder location, share D:\disk_library on the MA1 with a dedicated service account and use the UNC path and service account to share the mount path with MA02, like \\MA1\disk_library.

For recommendations on how to share the mount paths securely, see KB 72274.

    6. Click OK.

The new MediaAgent that is shared appears under Controllers.

  6. Click OK.

The disk library is now associated with the selected MediaAgent.

Note

If a library with multiple mount paths is associated with a Network Storage Pool, then sharing a mount path will automatically share the associated MediaAgent with all the other existing mount paths by using the DataServer-IP.

For example, on a library lib1 there are 2 mount paths mp1 and mp2. On mp1, if you shared MediaAgent MA1, then MA1 will automatically get shared with mp2 using the Data Server IP transport type.
