Adding On-Demand Instances for Oracle

Create an On-Demand instance to perform ad-hoc Oracle database backup operations, which are "as needed" backup operations. Use customized RMAN scripts to run backup operations for On-Demand instances.

When you create an On-Demand instance, a default subclient is automatically created for that instance.

Note

After you create an On-Demand instance, you cannot change it to a traditional instance.

Do not create On-Demand instances to run maintenance scripts. Instead, run third-party command line jobs to perform maintenance operations.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client.

  2. Right-click Oracle, point to All Tasks and then click New On Demand Instance.

  3. Click Yes to confirm the creation of an On-Demand instance.
