Configuring the Oracle Block Size

Applies to: Oracle and Oracle RAC

The block size is the number of bytes of data that the Oracle database reads for backup and restore operations. When you add or discover an Oracle instance, the software sets the default block size to 1MB.

Set the block size to 0 to use the default RMAN block size.

Note

The block size value must be a multiple of the minimum physical block size of the Oracle database.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Oracle.

  2. Right-click the instance and then click Properties.

  3. On the Details tab of the Instance Properties dialog box, in the Block Size box, type the block size.

  4. Click OK to close the Instance Properties dialog box.
