Additional settings can be configured to check space requirements, generate events, set time intervals, and set thresholds. By default, space check monitors the directories according to the following schedule:
-
Every six hours on the CommServe computer
-
Once per day on the remote machines
-
Whenever services are started on any of the computers within the CommCell environment
If the disk space is less than 75 MB, no new jobs are initiated and no new phases are started for running jobs. If the free space is less than 25 MB, all of the existing jobs are killed by the system. The Disk Space Low alert is generated when the threshold level falls below the critical severity level. For information on creating notifications for the Disk Space Low alert, see Configuring Alerts for Low Disk Space.
Use the following additional settings to configure space check for software installation and system directories:
Additional Settings |
Purpose |
---|---|
Checks the space requirements for software installation and system directories. |
Checks the space requirements for system directories such as %TEMP% for Windows and tmp or var for UNIX. |
Every 24 hours, the CVD service contacts the Automatic Updates download server to check if the CommServe Cache is up-to-date. If you configured your CommCell environment to install updates automatically, but some updates are missing, the missing updates will be downloaded automatically to the CommServe Cache. |
Generates events in the Event Viewer. |
Sets the time interval to check disk space, available updates, available service packs and required upgrades. When this additional setting is created or its value is changed, CVD must be recycled on the client before the new interval starts. When CVD service is recycled, the configured interval is restarted from zero. |
Sets the threshold for minimum space available in the drive for installing software. |
Sets the threshold for maximum space that should be consumed in the software installation directory. |
Sets the threshold for minimum space available in the drive where software Temp directory resides. |
Sets the threshold for maximum space that should be consumed in the software Temp directory. |
Sets the threshold for minimum space available in the drive where system Temp directory resides. |
Sets the threshold for maximum space that should be consumed in the system Temp directory. |
Sets the threshold for maximum space that should be consumed in the JobResults directory (for example, by default on Windows computers, the C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\iDataAgent\JobResults directory). This additional setting is used to set alerts when space used crosses the limit specified by this key. This does not limit the actual size of JobResults directory. |
Sets the threshold for minimum space available on the drive where the iDataAgent directory resides. |
Sets the threshold for maximum space that should be consumed in the iDataAgent directory. |
Sets the threshold for minimum space available in the var volume on a UNIX computer. |
Sets the threshold for maximum space that should be consumed in the var volume on a UNIX computer. |
