Copy Properties - Copy Policy

Use this dialog box to select the amount of time and number of full backup cycles that you want to retain the data that was backed up via this global deduplication policy.

Backup Selection

Select either All Backups or a Backups On and After Date.

All Backups

If selected, all backup data will be copied from the primary copy to the secondary copy. If cleared, the Backups on and After field is enabled.

Note: If cleared and clicked OK on the Copy Properties dialog box, you cannot re-select the All Backups checkbox.

Backups on and After

If selected, only the backup data after the specified date will be copied from the primary copy to the secondary copy. This date can be on, before, or after the current CommServe date.

Source Copy

  • Specify Source for Auxiliary Copy

Specifies the copy that will be used in the place of a primary copy during the auxiliary copy operation. Note that the source of an auxiliary copy can be a synchronous copy whether the new copy is a selective or synchronous copy; however, the source of an auxiliary copy can only be a selective copy if the new copy is a selective copy also. A selective copy cannot be the source for an auxiliary copy when the new copy is a synchronous copy.

Copy Configuration

  • Enable Parallel Copy

If selected, specifies that data can be copied to multiple secondary copies concurrently rather than sequentially.

  • Enable Inline Copy

If selected, specifies that when a data protection operation is performed, data will be backed up to this copy in addition to the primary copy. Note that this copy and the primary copy must utilize the same MediaAgent.

    • Do Not Make Inline Copy to Same Library

Click to prevent a job from being copied to the same library during Inline Copy operations.

  • Pick data from running backup jobs

If selected, when an auxiliary copy job with the Use Scalable Resource Allocation option enabled is performed during a backup job, the data available on the primary copy is picked for copy by the running auxiliary copy job. This option causes the auxiliary copy operation to create the secondary copy faster. This option saves time for the auxiliary copy operation, especially when the backups running are huge.

    Notes:

    • For this parameter to work, enable the feature of replication of backup jobs completed during an auxiliary copy operation and specify the time interval to check for completed backup jobs. For instructions, see Enabling Frequent (Timely) Replication of Backup Jobs Completed during an Auxiliary Copy Operation.

    • This option is supported only for synchronous copies. This option is not supported for inline copy, snapshot copy, selective copy and silo copy.

    • This option is not supported for auxiliary copy operations that process Edge backup data.

    • This option is supported only when the source copy is on a disk or a cloud library.

  • Space optimized Auxiliary Copy

This check box is selected if the Enable Deduplication check box is selected in the General tab to optimize the deduplication percentage on the storage policy copy.

    Note

If an auxiliary copy job runs with both the Pick data from running backup jobs and the Space optimized Auxiliary Copy check boxes selected, then the Estimated Completion Time displayed on the Auxiliary Copy Job Details dialog box might not be accurate.

  • Defer Auxiliary Copy for n day(s)

Specifies that data can be copied to this copy only after an n amount of days after the data was protected.
