Creating a Custom Amazon Windows AMI for Database Application Migration

Create an Amazon Windows AMI so that you can migrate your SQL database to the cloud.

Note

Before creating an Amazon Machine Image, turn off the Windows firewall on the Amazon EC2 Instance for a seamless install operation.

Procedure

  1. Create a Windows EC2 instance using any public or private Windows AMI.

  2. Install the MSSQL server.

  3. Create an Amazon Machine Image from the EC2 instance.
