The Index Server Cloud is a logical CommCell entity used to configure a group of clients from an Index Store Pool for one or more Commvault features. Index Server clouds also have feature-specific schemas, or roles, that you can add to support content indexing and search functionality for specific Commvault features. You can create an Index Server cloud in the CommCell Console.
Before You Begin
-
You must have an HAC Cluster in your CommCell environment. To create an HAC cluster, see Creating an HAC Cluster for Index Server Cloud.
-
You must have an Index Store Pool in your CommCell Environment. To create an Index Store Pool, see Creating an Index Store Pool for Index Server Cloud.
-
The index directory is the physical location of the Index Server cloud data that is stored on each node. All of the nodes that you configure on the Index Server cloud must use the same path for the index directory. For example, if you enter D:\indexServerDir as your index directory, then each node on the Index Server cloud must have a D: drive and the folder indexServerDir must not contain any data. If the drive exists but the folder path does not exist on the server, then the folders in the path are created automatically by the software.
-
During this procedure, you must select a replication factor for the Index Server cloud. The replication factor is the number of times your data is copied, or replicated, to a different node in the Index Server cloud. After you finish creating the Index Server cloud, you cannot change the replication factor value. Therefore, make sure you select a replication factor that satisfies your requirements. For more information, see High Availability with Index Server Cloud Replication.
-
After you select the nodes to use for an Index Server cloud, you cannot add more nodes to the Index Server cloud. Therefore, make sure you select enough nodes the handle the expected operations on the Index Server cloud.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, go to Client Computer Groups, right-click the Index Servers smart group, and then click New Index Server.
The Index Server Cloud dialog box appears.
-
On the General tab, enter the following information:
-
Cloud Name: The name of the Index Server as it should appear in the CommCell Console.
-
Storage Policy (Optional): If you want to back up the indexing data, from the Storage Policy list, select a storage policy.
-
-
Select the Enable Cloud check box.
-
Click the Index Store Pool list and select the Index Store Pool that you want to use to supply nodes for this Index Server cloud.
-
For Replication Factor, select the number of nodes that you want to have a copy of the Index Server cloud data.
For more information, see High Availability with Index Server Cloud Replication.
-
If your content is in a language other than English and the language supports tokenization, from the Additional Language list, select the language of the content.
For information on languages that support tokenization, see Support and Limitations for Index Server Cloud.
Note
English is automatically selected in the Language box and cannot be changed.
-
In the Index Directory box, enter the full path on the Index Store client where you want to store the indexing data.
For example, enter C:\indexServerDir.
Note
The index directory path that you enter must exist on all of the clients in the Index Store Pool that you plan to use for the Index Server cloud.
-
On the Roles tab, click Add.
The Select Index Server Role dialog box appears.
-
In the Exclude list, select one or more roles that you want to configure on the Index Server, and then click Include.
The selected roles appear in the Include list.
-
Click OK.
-
In the Index Server Cloud dialog box, click the Nodes tab, and then click Add.
The Select Cloud Nodes dialog box appears. The Exclude list contains clients from the Index Server Pool.
-
In the Exclude list, select the clients that you want to add, and then click Include.
Note
After you select the nodes to use for an Index Server cloud, you cannot add more nodes to the Index Server cloud. Therefore, make sure you select enough nodes the handle the expected operations on the Index Server cloud.
The selected client names appear in the Include list.
-
Click OK.
-
Click OK.
The new Index Server cloud name appears under the Index Server computer group node in the CommCell Browser.
