Cross-site Replication Sample Configuration

A cross-site replication setup is when data from one site is backed up on location and a secondary copy of the backup is maintained on site two. Also, the site two has its own data backed up on location and a secondary copy of that data is maintained on site one.

In the following figure, there are two storage pools, and each storage pool represents a data site. Depending on the storage capacity requirements, each storage pool might be comprised of multiple MediaAgents. For more information about the required hardware specifications, see Hardware Specifications for Deduplication Mode.

In this setup, the primary copy of each storage pool writes the data to a location within the storage pool. However, the secondary copy is created on the other storage pool for extended retention.
