You can detect and add the storage virtual machines (SVM) on a physical NetApp file server, either 7-Mode or Cluster-Mode. The SVM are automatically added as arrays with tunneling enabled.
Before You Begin
-
A NAS client with a corresponding array entry must already be present for the cluster/physical file server.
-
Ensure that the NAS client is configured as a cluster/physical file server before you detect and add. For instructions on configuring the NAS client as a cluster/physical file server, see Configuring a NetApp Client as a Cluster or a Physical File Server.
-
The CommServe must be able to communicate with the array.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell browser, go to Client Computers > physical file server/cluster client.
-
Right-click the client, and then click Properties.
The Client Computer Properties dialog box appears.
-
On the Storage Virtual Machine tab, under Detect and Add Storage Virtual Machine, click Detect.
A list of storage virtual machines appears.
-
Select the storage virtual machines that you want to include in the cluster, and then click Add.
A message appears that says the storage virtual machines were added successfully.
-
Click OK.
The storage virtual machines that you selected move to the Associated Virtual File Servers box. An entry for each storage virtual machines is created in Array Management. Tunneling is enabled by default.
-
To close the Client Computer Properties dialog box, click OK.
The storage virtual machines that you selected for the cluster appear as deconfigured NAS clients in the CommCell Browser.
