Enabling Data Loss Prevention

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is a laptop security solution you can use to secure files on your device and prevent unauthorized access to your important data. If your laptop is ever lost or stolen, you can use DLP to secure access to data on your laptop or remotely erase data on your laptop from the Web Console.

Before You Begin

To start using DLP, your administrator must enable DLP for your laptop.

Procedure

  1. Enable the Explorer Plug-In for your laptop:

    1. Open Edge Monitor.

The Edge Monitor dialog box appears.

    2. Move the Explorer Plugin toggle key to the right.

  2. Recommended: Create a passkey to authorize access to locked files on your laptop.

    Note

We recommend that you create a DLP passkey before you lock items from the Web Console. If you lock items before creating a DLP passkey, you can only unlock the files when your laptop connects to the Commvault environment.
