End User Access

Access to CommCell configuration and operations is provided to Administrators, primarily through the CommCell Console. For end-users, access is provided for specific purposes, such as restoring their own backed up or archived files. The most common access points are listed on this page.

Administrative Access

Command Center

The Command Center is a web-based user interface for administration tasks that provides default configuration values and streamlined procedures for routine data protection and recovery tasks. The Command Center is installed by default with the CommServe component. You can use the Command Center to set up your data protection environment, to identify content that you want to protect, and to initiate and monitor backups and restores. For more information, see Command Center Interface.

CommCell Console

The CommCell Console is the advanced management interface for the CommCell environment. All configuration and operational tasks can be performed using the CommCell Console. The CommCell Console can be installed with the CommServe component and can be installed as a stand-alone application on other hosts. Used with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS), the CommCell Console can provide web-based, remote-user access. For more information, see CommCell Console Overview.

Primarily focused on providing self-service restore capability to laptop and desktop users, the Web Console can be used to share data, run reports, access software packages, and manage virtual machines. The Web Console requires a Web Server. To provide scale and localization, multiple Web Consoles can be associated with the same Web Server. For more information, see Web Console - Overview.

Edge Backup Monitor

End users can monitor and control backup jobs from their laptop. Edge Monitor also includes a link to launch the Web Console. For more information, see Accessing Edge Monitor.
