Installing the High Availability Computing Package for Index Server Cloud

The High Availability Computing package manages the nodes in an Index Server cloud. You can install the High Availability Computing package on a client in your CommCell environment.

Before You Begin

Review the following installation guidance:

  • If you are using the Index Server Cloud for the Exchange Mailbox Agent, you can install the High Availability Computing package on access nodes that have the following hardware specifications: 8 GB of RAM and a 4 core CPU or vCPU.

  • To provide the minimum amount of fault tolerance, install the High Availability Computing package on at least three clients in your CommCell environment.

    Note

The HAC cluster must contain an odd number of nodes. For small to medium environments, use three nodes. For large environments, use five nodes.

    • Verify that Python is installed on the clients.

    • Verify that all of the clients can directly communicate with each other and the Index Server (default port 20000). By default, ports 8090, 8091 and 8097 are used by the High Availability Computing package service. If these ports are not available, you can edit the port numbers used by the High Availability Computing package when you create the HAC cluster.

Procedure

  • From the CommCell Console, install the High Availability Computing package on at least three clients in your CommCell environment.

    Note

The High Availability Computing package is located under Tools in the packages list.

For instructions, see Installing Commvault Remotely Using the CommCell Console.
