Interactive Installation Using the Installation Package on Windows Client

You can configure a direct connection from the client to the CommServe computer during an interactive installation using the Commvault installation package on a Windows client.

Procedure

  1. On the Server Information page of the installation wizard, enter the CommServe hostname port using one of the following formats.

    • Hostname (use this format if the tunnel port of the CommServe computer is 8403)

    • Hostname:Port_Number (use this format if the tunnel port of the CommServe computer is anything other than 8403)

      Note

If you want to enter the port as an IPv6 address, use the following format: [2001:db8::216:cbff:xx:xx]:8080

  2. If the client is separated from the CommServe computer by an HTTP proxy, complete the following steps on the HTTP Proxy Information page. Otherwise, skip this step.

    1. Select the Configure for an HTTP proxy check box.

    2. Select one of the following options based on your network requirements:

      • If you want to manually provide the HTTP proxy details, click Explicit proxy settings.

      • If you want to use the HTTP proxy settings that are used by the current user profile, click Use HTTP proxy from user profile.

      • If you want to auto-detect the HTTP proxy details by checking the proxy auto-config (PAC) file using DNS or DHCP WPAD, click Autodetect Proxy via WPAD.

    3. If you chose to manually provide the HTTP proxy details, provide the following information:

      • In the HTTP Proxy Host Name or IP address box, specify the host name or IP address of the HTTP proxy.

      • In the HTTP Proxy Port Number box, specify the port number of the HTTP proxy.

    4. Proceed to the next page.

  3. Continue with the client installation.
