Moving Clients from a Full Deduplication Database to a New Deduplication Database

When you enable the horizontal scaling of deduplication databases (DDB), if a DDB becomes full, you can use the Move Clients to New DDB workflow to move the subclients of a client from the full DDB to a new DDB created for their data type. Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, go to Workflows.

  2. Download the workflow Move Clients To New DDB from the Commvault Store.

    For instructions, see Downloading and Updating Workflows from the Commvault Store.

  3. To deploy the workflow, right-click Move Clients To New DDB, and then click All Tasks > Deploy.

  4. To run the workflow, right-click Move Clients To New DDB again, and then click All Tasks > Execute.

    The Storage Pool dialog box appears.

  5. From the Storage Pool list, select the storage pool that contains the clients that you want to move.

  6. Click Next.

    The From DDB dialog box appears.

  7. From the From DDB list, select the full DDB.

  8. Click Next.

    The Clients dialog box appears.

  9. From the list of clients, select the clients that contain the subclients that you want to move to the new DDB.

  10. Click Finish.

    The Success confirmation dialog box appears.

    You can track the progress of the workflow job from the job controller. If you configured an alert, the recipient receives an email notification on the workflow result.
