Network Topologies and Clients Groups Created for CommServe LiveSync

The following Network Topologies and Client Computer Groups are created by default, when CommServe LiveSync is enabled. The topologies and client groups depends on the option selected in the CommServe LiveSync - Connectivity tab.

Network Topology created for CommServ failover

Provides network connectivity between external and internal client groups using network gateway for routing connections between CommServe to all or selected clients. Failover clients (or the SQL instances) act as the network gateways.

External Clients for failover

Includes the following components:

  • Not equal to proxy clients for failover

  • Not equal to internal clients for Failover

  • Client acts as a proxy (is false)

  • Client (equal to) installed

Includes all or selected remote clients, except network gateway clients, CommServe and failover clients (or the SQL instances).

Internal Clients for failover

Includes the production CommServe host.

Includes the currently active CommServe host.

Proxy Clients for failover

Points to the Failover clients client group.

Points to Failover clients client group, which contains all failover clients (or the SQL instances).

Network Topology created for failover clients

Provides one-way firewall between internal and external client groups for routing connections from CommServe and MediaAgent to the failover clients (or the SQL instances). Always created and should not be tampered with.

Internal clients for Failover clients topology

Includes the following components:

  • Production CommServe Client

  • MediaAgents associated with the LiveSync Subclient

  • Failover clients

Includes the CommServe client, MediaAgents associated with the LiveSync Subclient and all failover clients (or the SQL instances).

External clients for Failover clients topology

Includes clients with the CommServe Failover package.

Includes all the failover clients (or the SQL instances).

Test network topology created for Commserv Failover

Provides communication between test client, test MediaAgent and the CommServe for performing a test restore after a Test Failover.

External Clients for test failover

Points to the System Created client group for test failover client group.

Includes the test clients added in System Created client group for test failover.

Internal Clients for test failover

Includes the production CommServe host.

Includes the currently active CommServe host.

Proxy Clients for test failover

Points to the System Created client group for proxy failover client group.

Includes the test network gateway client(s)/ MediaAgent(s)s added in System Created proxy group for test failover.

Additional Information

The CVLiveSync client group is created by the installer to install updates on the CommServe and Failover clients.

Caution

Do not delete this client group.This client group will not be automatically recreated by the LiveSync operation.
