Optimizing Backups Using Readahead Process

Applies To: Hitachi NAS (BlueArc)

Use this option to specify the number of disk blocks to read ahead during the backup operations. If you do not specify a value for this option, the default value from the file server will be used.

Procedure

1. From the CommCell Browser, go to client > NDMP > defaultBackupSet.

2. In the right pane, right-click the subclient, and then click Backup.

   The Backup Options dialog box appears.

3. On the Backup Options tab, click Advanced.

   The Advanced Backup Options dialog box appears.

4. On NAS Options tab, from Readahead Process list, select a value, and then click OK.

5. Select the backup type and schedule.

6. Click OK.
