Catalog Media

Use this dialog box to catalog the media so that you can quickly and easily find the files you need to recover.

Catalog Only

When selected, you can perform a catalog operation only. A catalog operation creates a local catalog database of media archive file entries through which you can manually select the archive files containing the data you need to recover. The archived files are displayed in the catalog pane. All archive files found and cataloged are written or appended to the catalog database.

Catalog and Merge

When selected, you can perform a catalog operation and then import metadata associated with the archive files that you want to recover.

Always add the following prefix to imported entities

Select this option if you want to add a prefix to the names of all the recreated entities. Type the prefix in the Prefix box.

Set File Marker

Specifies to set the selected chunks within an archive file using filemarkers.

From

  • Start of Tape

Select to store the desired chunk from the start of tape.

  • End of Tape

Select to store the desired chunk till the end of tape.

  • File marker

Specify the filemarker numbers that denotes the start and end of the desired chunk.

Maximum Number of Drives

Specify the number of drives to be used for catalog operation.

Drive Pool

Specify a drive Pool for catalog operation. Drive pool is a set of drives which are attached or accessible to a MediaAgent. Drive pools are logical entities used to facilitate the sharing of a library’s drives between multiple MediaAgents.

Recatalog already cataloged media

This option is available when you select two or more media libraries for catalog operation wherein one or more than one of the selected media is already cataloged. Select this option to recatalog the already cataloged media.

Save As Script

Click to open the Save As Script dialog, which allows you to save this operation and the selected options as a script file (in XML format). The script can later be executed from the Command Line Interface using qoperation execute command.

When you save an operation as a script, each option in the dialog will have a corresponding XML parameter in the script file. When executing the script, you can modify the value for any of these XML parameters as needed.

Media Password

Type the media password of the tapes that you want to catalog.

Add Additional Password

Use this option if you require additional password box.

Data on Catalog Media

Use this dialog box to view the cataloged media so that you can quickly and easily find the files you need to recover.

Tape Unique Id

Displays the ID of the tape.

Media Id

Displays the ID of the selected media.

Total Data Written

Displays the size of the written data on media.

Total Size on Media

Displays the total size of the data on media.

Job ID

Displays the ID's of all the jobs in the selected media.

Status

Displays the job status as Completed or Partial.

Client

Displays the Client Name.

Version

Displays the version of the software.

CommCell Number

Displays the CommCell Number.

Catalog Status

Displays the status of the cataloging operation.

iDataAgent

Displays the CommServe or the name of iDataAgent.

Instance

Displays the instance name.

Backup Set

Displays the backup set name.

Subclient

Displays the Subclient name.

File Mark

Displays the file mark numbers that denotes the start and end of the desired chunk.

Backup Level

Displays the status of the backup.

Backup Time

Displays the time of the backup operation.

Archive File Type

Displays the type of archive file.

Archive File

Displays the number of archive file.

Storage Policy

Displays the storage policy name.

Storage Policy Copy

Displays the storage policy copy name.

Catalog Media Group Properties

Use this dialog box to specify the name of the catalog media group to which the media must be assigned when the media is set to be cataloged and recovered.

Group Name

Specifies the media group to which the media must be assigned when the media is cataloged. If necessary, change the current group and specify a new group name to assign the media for catalog operation.

Library

Displays the name of the library for which the media will be cataloged.

Media Type

Default Media Type

Select a default media type from the list.

Catalog Media - Merge/Recatalog

Use this dialog box to merge the deleted media with CommServe database or recatalog the media so that you can merge the media or quickly and easily recover the lost data on media.

Merge Only

When selected, you can perform a merge operation only. The deleted media is merged or appended to the catalog database.

Recatalog

When selected, allows you to catalog the media which is already cataloged.

Recatalog and Merge

When selected, allows you to recatalog the already cataloged media and merge this media with the database at the same time to save the time.

Set File Marker
