Replacing a Deleted DDB Subclient

When a storage policy with deduplication is enabled, by default, DDB Backup subclient is created under the MediaAgent client where the deduplication database (DDB) is hosted.

We recommend that you do not delete the DDB backup subclient because this subclient backs up the DDB, and the backed up DDB is used during the DDB recovery process.

If the DDB backup subclient is deleted, you can create a DDB backup subclient to replace deleted DDB backup subclient.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > DDB_MediaAgent_client > File System.

  2. Right-click defaultBackupSet and then click All Tasks > New Advanced subclient > DDB.

The New Advanced subclient appears only when there is no DDB backup subclient.

  3. In the Subclient Properties of dialog box, specify the appropriate settings:

The DDBBackup subclient automatically defines the DDB as the subclient content.

    1. In the Subclient name box, enter a name for the DDB subclient.

    2. Click the Storage Device tab, and then select the storage policy from the Storage Policy list.

    3. Click OK.

  4. In the Backup Schedule dialog box, from the Associate to schedule policy list, click System Created for DDB subclients, and then click OK.

System Created for DDB subclients schedule runs DDB backup jobs every 8 hours.
