Replication for VM-Centric Operations

You can configure replication for disaster recovery operations from the CommCell Console or from the Command Center.

Perform replication (live sync) operations for VMs from streaming backups or from IntelliSnap backups.

From the Command Center, you can configure replication for individual VMs.

From the CommCell Console, you must configure live sync operations for a subclient.

Replication from IntelliSnap Backups

With 11.20 or a more recent feature release, VMware virtualization clients that are configured for VM-centric operations support the following types of replication from IntelliSnap backups:

  • NetApp Open Replication using SnapVault and SnapMirror copies

  • Inline replication for vendors that have inline replication support, as documented in Snapshot Support - Replication

These features are also supported for VMware virtualization clients that use Indexing Version 1.

Note

  • To perform inline replication for VM-centric virtualization clients, the CommServe host, VSA proxy (access node), and MediaAgent that are used for the operations must be at 11.20 or a more recent feature release.

  • Replication using NetApp with OnCommand Unified Manager (OCUM) is not supported with Indexing Version 2. You can perform OCUM-based replication using a virtualization client that is configured to use Indexing Version 1.
