You can restore Exchange Mailbox Agent index server in place to the same location if the index became corrupted or was deleted.
Procedure

Stop the services on the index server.

Do either of the following:

If the index was corrupted, delete all the existing files from the index directory.

If the index directory was deleted, create a new directory with the same name that the index had before it was deleted.

Restart the services on the index server.

In the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computer Groups > Index Servers > index_server > Big Data Apps > defaultInstanceName.

Right-click the subclient, and then click Browse and Restore.
The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

Click View Content.

In the left pane, expand to defaultInstanceName, and then select Exchange Index.

Click Recover All Selected.
The Restore Options for All Selected Items dialog box appears.

From the Destination client list, select the index server.

Click OK.

Run an archiving job so that any jobs that were in a pending state are indexed by the restored index.

Browse the messages to verify that all the messages appear as expected.
